Morning light begins to illuminate Manly Beacon and the badlands; two hikers have made their way up onto a ridge in the hills (center left), providing a great sense of scale to this fascinating landscape. Photographed from Zabriskie Point, Death Valley National Park, California; January 2023.
Manly Beacon is named for William L. Manly, a pioneer who helped rescue the Bennett-Arcane emigrant party when they got stuck in Death Valley.
