Conditions were absolutely perfect when I visited Algodones Dunes in July. The area doesn't see many visitors in Summer because of the high temperatures, and the dunes were in almost pristine condition. A monsoon storm had passed through an hour before, leaving the top 1/2" of the sand wet and now baking in the sun, temporarily providing a relative hard surface to walk on. The sun (behind me in this photo) was partially blocked by the remaining clouds of the storm, providing a nice flat and even lighting.
