Calm Wall Art

In the uncertainty of the pandemic that holds the world in its grip right now, we all feel uneasy and anxious on a certain level – worried about the health and well being of family, friends and ourselves of course, but also wondering about where we’ll find ourselves and the world we live in next month, in half a year, next year. We may feel helpless watching events unfold rapidly, information changing daily, a storm consuming our lives while all we can do is watch powerlessly, many of us confined to our homes. None of the photos in this portfolio is new – they all appear in one or the other existing gallery. I selected these photographs looking for images that would instill a feeling of calm in me, searching for a counterpoint to the turmoil the world is in, and the strain being confined to our homes puts on our mental health. The idea of timelessness seemed very attractive to me, and the visible passing of time is naturally absent in the process of photography. Some of the pictures I chose further this idea with water rendered smooth in long exposures, and drama of clouds absent in skies. Color palettes are dominated by cool and soothing blue and green tones often as well. It is my hope that the selection brings some peace to you.
